Wedding traditions and ceremonies may differ from country to country, but one thing remains the same-the wedding represents the legal union between two partners in the eyes of the law and their chosen church or religion.

These days, despite the popularity of modern weddings, a number of couples still believe in incorporating a hint of tradition into their contemporary nuptials. India, a vast country rich in culture and history, has its own set of wedding customs, traditions and wedding attire. The most common traditional Indian bridal wear is the sari.

The Sari

The sari, also known as shari or saree, is a traditional garment worn by women from countries like IndiaBangladeshPakistanSri Lanka and Nepal. It is a long strip of unstitched fabric, about four to nine meters long. The sari can be worn draped over the body in a number of different styles.

In a common draping style used for the sari, the fabric is wrapped around the woman’s waist with one end of the strip draped over one shoulder, exposing the woman’s midsection. The sari completes the upper garment of the traditional Indian attire and is worn over a petticoat called the pavadai or shaya and a blouse called the ravika or choli. More

India has been known to have wonderful dresses and costumes. The most common and accepted attire for Indian women or girls is the sari or saree. A saree or sari is atraditional or ethnic garment for women in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and SriLanka. It is a long single piece of fabric ranging from 4 to 9 meters in length and 1 metre in width. It is draped over the women or girls’ body in various styles and ways. It is draped with combination of matching short fitting blouse (choli) forming the upper garment and petticoat forming the lower garment. One end of the saree is tucked carefully into the petticoat on the women’s waist while the other end is draped over shoulders into the blouse.

In a properly dressed or draped saree a woman or young girl looks gorgeous, graceful, elegant, stylish and sensuous even more sensuous and appealing than of any other garments or western dresses. Generally women or young girls think that skin tights tops, short skirts, jeans, shorts, etc are the only costumes to create a sensuous & appealing look. But it is not true. A designer saree can give more sensuous, appealing and graceful look than of any other garments.

If a young woman or girl has a good figure and likes to shows off it rather decently and graciously, then a saree is just the best outfit for her. Now-a-days, many college going girls or professional girls also have started to wear sarees to give their body a sensual, appealing, gorgeous, graceful and even sexy look. More
